This simple Valentine’s Day Mirror Table Runner craft project is a great way to reuse or recycle existing full length mirrors you have hung throughout your home. Use these steps to redecorate a full length mirror, once it dries you can lay it length wises on your dining room table as table runner.
For round or square tables try using a regular mirror in place of a full length mirror.
This simple Valentine’s Day craft project can be accomplished on almost any mirror you have. The best part is that you can easily scrape off the simple designs and return your mirror to its pre Valentine’s Day status once February has gone by!
To Make This Valentine’s Day Mirror Table Runner You Will Need:
Red, Pink, Pearl White and Silver acrylic paint (gold is ok too)
Masking tape (optional)
Now, you will be basically using a pre made rubber stamp to add Valentine’s Day heart designs onto your existing full length mirrors. I personally think hearts look great and can be used in any room of the house. You can really use anything from roses to scrolls though.
If you already have some rubber stamps, but they do not fit the Valentine’s Day feel, then you can still use them. Simply use red and pink paint in place of the gold or silver. Red and pink turns anything in to Valentine’s Day felling.
To create some unique and fun patterns on your existing full length mirrors try these tips:
Tape off a checkerboard pattern. This way you can only stamp in certain areas. Apply you stamps by dipping them into the acrylic paint, then pressing not the mirror. Let the paint dry, remove the masking tape, and you have a cool new look for Valentine’s Day on your full length mirror.
You can also tape off your existing mirror into four large squares. Use the Valentine’s Day stamps on the top left a bottom right squares a leave the other two plain.
To create a board run a line of tape about two inches in from the edge of your existing full length mirror. Do this on all four sides. Now, make another taped off rectangle three inches in form this first row of tape. Now, stamp only in this area between the two pieces of tape. Try to have some of the hearts stamps running onto the tape. When you pull off the tape it will create a crisp line and no one will miss that you were creating a Valentine’s Day boarder on the mirror.
If you decide to use the silver acrylic paint you can really cover the entire mirror with the heart pattern. It is such a light and delicate color that it will look great!
To clean off the acrylic paint from your existing mirrors, all you need to do is scrape them off with a thin metal spatula. Plastic spatulas also work. I lie to use one of the plastics spatulas you find in the dry wall section at the home improvement store. Now, when you have most of the acrylic paint off then you can squirt on some Windex and wipe the rest of your Valentine’s Day decorations away.
