This simple Vintage Button frame computer monitor accessory will transform your computer monitor into a unique and fun Vintage Button display frame in your home or their office! Be sure to personalize the computer monitor frame for your taste.
To make this Simple Vintage Button computer Monitor Frame You Will Need:
Tape measure
Foam core board
Velcro (self sticking kind)
Exacto knife
Hole punch (optional)
Scissors
Vintage Button
Metal tapestry needle
Twine or thick quilting thread
The first step is to measure your computer monitor. You need to be pretty exact, so this fun Vintage Button accessory will fit your Computer monitor.
Measure the inside frame of the monitor, where is touches the screen. Now, measure the outside edges of the Computer monitor.
Now, this will be the dimension for your Vintage Button frame. The heart frame will stick out slightly further than your monitor, but you do not want it to cover any of your computer screen.
Now, take your sheet foam core board and measure out the inside square of your computer monitor. I like to draw this on with a marker. Just make this square the same size that you measured your computer screen to be.
Tip: plywood can be substituted for the foam core board if you like to work with wood. You will need to drill holes to sew on your vintage buttons though, which will be time consuming. You could also use that plastic mesh with scare hole in it that you sew yarn rugs on.
Now, you need to draw your outline on the outside of the frame on this square. To do this correctly, I like to use some thin masking tape to mark off the outside square of my computer monitor. This will ensure that my frame covers the outside of the entire computer monitor.
Go ahead and hold it up to your computer monitor to make sure it fits.
Now, apply your double-sided Velcro to the back of the frame shaped foam core board. Pell off the stick back and stick it in place. Now, peel off the other sticky back and place it on the computer monitor.
Now, you need to embellish and decorate your Vintage Button computer accessory frame. I like to lay out a pattern with my vintage buttons on the front. Now, take the off and start sewing them on. Thread your tapestry needle with brown twine. Use it to polka through the foam core board and sew on each vintage button.
I thin kit looks best to cover every surface of the foam core board, but you can really make patterns, flower designs, lines, cycles, and even use a foam core board color you like and space out the Vintage Button. Get creative with this computer monitor frame and have some fun!
You can even use you vintage buttons to spell out your name on the computer monitor frame. These make a great gift for anyone who loves vintage buttons and vintage décor as much as you do!
