This simple vintage mirror serving tray looks as great hanging on your wall as it does resting on your coffee table or buffet. I find great vintage mirrors all the time. I love those old mirrors that used to be attached to a vintage dresser. Over the years someone has removed them and now no one wants them! Which makes these simple vintage mirrors very affordable to buy. With the addition of a little pre made hardware though, you can repurpose these fun vintage wood framed mirrors into a great serving tray.
I love this vintage craft project because it allows me to have a large and dramatic vintage serving tray that I can easily use as decoration in my home. I have such a small home, that storage can really become an issue. So, creating a vintage craft that pulls double duty is a great way to add vintage style without cluttering up my closets!
To Make These Vintage Mirror Serving Trays you will need:
Wood framed Mirror
Picture hanging hook
Two metal handles
Four rubber picture frame stoppers
The first step is to turn your vintage mirror over on a flat work surface. I like to lay it out a soft and plush blanket on a table, and then use that so my mirror does not get scratched.
Now, if you already have a picture hanging hooks or wire on the back of your mirror you can skip this step. If not, I think this is a great way to hang you vintage mirror tray up somewhere while you are not using it to serve your guests. Just install a picture hanging hook on the top back of the vintage wood frame.
Now, while the vintage mirror is face down on the table go ahead and install your our rubber picture frame stopper son the corners. These look like tiny little rubber knobs that self adhere onto any surface. They keep your mirror or frames art work from sliding on the wall.
Now, flip the entire mirror over and lay it on its back.
Mark where you would like to install your handles on the left and right sides of the wooden frame. I like to use a thin extra fine sharpie marker for this.
Pre drill the hole with your power drill. Do not drill all the way through incase you might hit the mirror.
Screw in your handles on each side. I like to use those great modern looking stainless steel drawer pulls for this. Those reproduction glass handles also look great. You can find them at Anthropologies, Lowes, and Home Depot.
Now, basically you are finished. This really is a simple vintage craft project.
You can hang this simple vintage mirror on the wall in your kitchen, then take it down and serve drinks on it. If your mirror is large enough then you could even hang it behind your couch on the wall. Some of these vintage mirrors can be rather large and just will not fit into any cabinets in the kitchen, especially if you have a kitchen as small as mine!
You could make quite a few of these vintag emirror serving tray sand hang a collection on the wall. It would not only look great, but serve a purpose at your next party!
