Beeswax is a great material for beginner candle makers to use. You don’t have to work with hot melted wax and it is very affordable. If you love working with clay then you may really love creating these simple and elegant wedding flower shaped candles out of beeswax.
To Make a Personalized Wedding Favor Candle Out of Beeswax You Will Need:
1 Roll of Beeswax
1 #3 Cotton Wick
Cookie cutters in the shape of your wedding flowers
Now, the first thing you need to do is find your beeswax. You can buy good quality beeswax at almost ant art supply store. I even find it at the arts and craft store. You can buy it in natural colors and sometimes even in bright colors like yellow and red. This simple personalized wedding favor candle looks great in colored beeswax that matches your wedding colors or in natural colored beeswax in a shape that matches your wedding flowers.
Roll you entire sheet of beeswax out on a flat work surface.
Use your cookie cutter in the shape of your wedding flowers to cut out at least 14 pieces of wax.
Lay the wick on the end of the edge of one of the beeswax cutouts. Make it about 2 inches taller than your wedding flower wax cutouts. Press the wick into the edge of the beeswax to hold it in place. You can heat the beeswax up with a hairdryer a little of the wick will not stay in place. You want the extra inch of wick to stick out over the top of the candle.
Now take a second wedding flower cutout and press it on top. Again use heat if needed.
Now, continue building up the candle eon either side pressing the other wedding flower wax cut outs on each side.
Basically you wan tot finish off with three more piece on each side.
The good thing about working with beeswax is that you can heat it a little with the hair dryer and unroll it a little to rework it. Do not try to do this too many times though.
Continue this pressing process until the base is as wide as you want.
If you were unable to find colored beeswax you can use melted crayons to paint on the wedding favor candles in different colors. You could also slightly melt them with the hairdryer and sprinkle them with glitter.
Now, take each of your personalized wedding flower candles and drop each one in their own clear bag. You can find these small clear bags at almost any arts and craft store. Tie the simple bags shut with a coordinating ribbon.
Place all of the candles in a basket and have your flower girls hand them put as your wedding guests leave!
