This has been a big disappointment to many Video Game fans. Nintendo brought this up in 1997, and nothing has been done about it. Sure, there were a few Mario games released here and there, but it was nothing compared to what Nintendo originally had in store for us. What is the truth? is there going to be a true Mario sequel to Mario 64 or not? Mario Creator Shigeru Miyamoto has had many interviews on this Video Game, and he really hasn’t gotten us very far to what to know about this game, but he did spill some news on what this Video Game could offer.
It has been over 5 years since this game started to flow around the air, and now it is getting even more anticipating as the Revolution nears completion. We all thought Mario 128 would make its debut on the Nintendo Gamecube, but it didn’t. Super Mario Sunshine did in fact make an appearance on the Gamecube, and many people thought this would be the next Mario game. Now in my eyes this game wasn’t as good as I thought it would be. It didn’t feel like Mario, and well it seemed to me that this was just a way of stalling for Super Mario 128. There have been many rumors out there of what Mario 128 will be, and they all do make sense, but recently, Miyamoto told us that he isn’t really sure as to what Mario 128 will be. He said he wasn’t sure if he was going to make Mario 128, or to whether he would make another Sunshine like title. Now when I heard that I was a little disappointed, but it was only a rumor, as he still isn’t to what he wants to do. Nintendo also added that hardware potential played a big part in the delay of Mario 128. Originally Mario 128 showed us one Mario splitting up into 128 different Mario characters, in a puzzle featured game, but those were only screenshots. In fact to tell you the truth I don’t think that will be having any effect of the development of Mario 128. Another rumor stated Nintendo didn’t want to release Mario 128 because of the next Zelda game and the Nintendo DS being released, but since the DS has already been released, this shouldn’t be a problem… Unless Nintendo is looking to wait until after Zelda releases, this may be a good rumor. Miyamoto briefly stated this recently…
[Chuckles] I’m just really sorry. I think I’ve given people the wrong impression with Mario 128. With all the questions I’m getting about this, I really feel like I’ve done people a disservice. In regards to Mario 128, we’re currently doing a lot of Mario experiments back in Kyoto. We are definitely going to have a new Mario for Revolution. Whether or not that’s 128 or not, I can’t really say. It might be a new Sunshine. We’re not sure. We’re doing a lot of Mario tests right now for the Revolution.
This really teased people a lot, because this is where he stated that another Sunshine might be made. As you can see he is “testing” different Mario methods, to make the best Mario possible, but it obviously takes some time, and as soon as I know more you will know more. Now he never said he was going to put another Sunshine title in place of Mario 128, he simply said he was going to delay Mario 128 further and develop another Sunshine title to allow us Mario lovers to enjoy a sequel to the hit on Gamecube. I don’t know about you, but I am kind of sick of waiting, and if we have to wait years more, then it will be even more painful. Of course little is still known about this, but every day, more info leaks out… So do we have something to look forward too? Is Miyamoto going to make us all happy or is he going to leave us boggled?
