I don’t advocate dining on fast food regularly, but with lifestyles being as busy as they are today, sometimes the occasional fast food meal becomes all but impossible to avoid. Of course, some fast food is worse for you health-wise than others. Some fast food restaurants are cleaner, and some fast food just tastes better, too. Here is a discussion about which restaurants have the best fast food.
Subway versus Quiznos. Perhaps the healthiest fast foods can be found at deli-style fast food restaurants like Subway and Quiznos. These two franchises have really taken off, and it is difficult to find a town in the United States that doesn’t offer one or the other. Many offer both. So, which offers the best fast food? Hands down, I would have to say Quiznos. Their sandwiches are prepared in a fast but not assembly line fashion, and their warm meals are cooked right, rather than just heated up. Subway’s higher-end attempts, like steak sandwiches, simply don’t compare.
Pizza Hut versus Dominoes. Everyone and their sister condemns Dominoes pizza, yet it’s usually their first choice when picking up the phone. I don’t ordinarily like ordering from either, but in Hawaii, where there simply aren’t any decent pizza places, I really had no choice. I tried both, again and again. And after a while, I stopped calling Pizza Hut. On the whole, Dominoes generally offers better pizza, better deals, and better service.
McDonald’s versus Burger King. As the commercial goes, flame-broiled is just plain better. So I have to give the nod to Burger King as my fast food burger of choice. The burgers are thicker, larger, and simply taste better. Of course, everyone prefers McDonald’s french fries, and I’ll have to give them that. And McDonald’s coffee recently beat Starbucks in the polls, so Mickey D’s won’t be closing its restaurants anytime soon.
KFC versus Popeye’s. I don’t care for fried chicken and I never tried either restaurant, so I had to ask. I asked five people and the verdict was unanimous. All preferred Popeye’s to KFC. “Love that chicken at Popeye’s,” the jingle goes. Apparently so.
Arby’s versus Roy Rogers. Both Arby’s and Roy Rogers offer some pretty damn good roast beef sandwiches, and I’d have to say as far as fast food goes, it’s a tie. But Arby’s can be pretty expensive, considering they are still serving fast food. So, I’d have to give the nod to Roy Rogers.
