Why Not Take a Spring Break Road Trip

by sumonova

Spring break is very quickly approaching and many parents are probably thinking of what fun thing they can do with their kids. One thing that many people don’t seem to do much of anymore is take road trips. You are probably thinking that a long period of time in any vehicle with your kids is a lot to deal with. It can however be a very fun experience for the entire family, and give you plenty of time to get closer as a family. There are plenty of great places that you can visit using your vehicle or a rental. For example if you live on or near the east coast you can take a drive to Canada to see the sights. If planned properly a road trip really can be a lot of fun.

First you should have at least several specific destinations in mind. The younger your children are the more frequently you will have to stop, so make sure that you keep this in mind when planning your trip. If you have very young children you will probably need to stop every two to three hours. When planning out your route pick out some fun spots, such as a miniature golf course, or maybe a fishing site in the area that you happen to be in. If you are going to be in an area where a mall is, why not stop there and do a little shopping. Another suggestion is to try and look up a few educational areas to visit. Remember that just because it may be educational does not mean that it will be burning. There are plenty of museums and places to visit that you and your family might just find very interesting. Give everyone a vote in what locations you stop at. First you can come up with a list of all of the fun or interesting things to do along the way, and then have everyone pick out the things that they would really enjoy doing. This way everyone will be able to do something that they really want to do, and it will make for a very memorable spring trip.

A few additional things that you should keep in mind are your budget and your travel vehicle. You will need to decide how much you are able to spend first. Since most people don’t like to spend much money on spring break, then you should set a strict budget and do your best to stick with that budget. Your vehicle will definitely have a lot to do with your budget. You will need to check your vehicle and see if you are getting good gas mileage. Some people prefer to rent a vehicle for their road trips so that they don’t have to worry about putting too much additional wear and tear on their vehicle. Depending on your budget this may be the way that you want to go. If it is within your budget you may want to consider renting a “RV” or recreational vehicle. This is really a great comfortable way to travel especially if you have children. The one big plus about the recreational vehicles is that you don’t have to worry about using a public restroom. If you have not considered it, then you should really consider taking a spring break road trip. You may be surprised at how much fun you have.
