Welcome to Pardise, Michigan. The name says it all. This is truly pardise. There is something to do for everyone of all ages. I am going to list some, but there are much more then whats being listed. These are just some of my favorites.
Whitefish Point lighthouse Is the first thing on my list. This light house was established in 1849. Being one of the first lighthouses built to guide the mariners as they traveled the very treacherous area of Lake Superior. This lighthouse still does just this. Also opened for tours from May until October. This is a great learning experience. Great lakes shipwreck museum is located in the old coast guard buildings at whitefish point. This museum honors many mariners who traveled the great lakes. They show you a video presentation about Edmund Fitzgerald. The bell from the film can be seem fully restored on display. Each year they hold a memorial service for the crew of the Edmund Fitzgerald, the 729 foot steamer that sunk off whitefish bay.
An all time favorite, Blueberry picking. There is a very large open area filled with wild berries. Bring your pails and buckets, you will need them so you can fill them with fresh berries. They also hold an Annual wild blueberry festival in August. In addition to picking your own blueberries, you can enjoy the many blueberry treats they offer. Many arts and crafts are available during this festival and live entertainment.
Michigan’s only cranberry farm. I found this so hard to believe that the farm was over 100 years old. This farm was established in 1876. They have done some updates, but a lot of the old machines can still be viewed today. Cranberry farm is located near whitefish point. They offer fresh cranberry’s by the pails. Guided tours are a must. They will explain everything and give you the date details.
Hawatha national forest is located in lake shore drive offers many things to do here. Take the 2 mile long hiking tour. You will go deep in the woods and will often see wild animals in there natural habitat. A boardwalk crosses some wetland and if you look closely you will often see beavers working. This was a really cool experience. I have never been that close to a beaver in his natural habitat. There is a campground here also. Tables, grills and benches are located by the beach for a day filled with fun in the sun.
Whitefish Point Bird Observatory is one of the nations best . Here you will see every kind of bird you can think of. During my visit I seen hawks, eagles, goshawks, falcons, owls and many more birds. I could not believe how many there were. There is a series of wooden walkways in the sanctuary area for you to follow. They also offer guided tours though only on the weekends. The land here is the last land going North and the first land coming south. This means that you will be able to see everything that is passing by.
Canoing on Tahquamenon River aka The Two-Hearted River is very popular. Canoe’s can be rented at numerous places throughout this city. There are several camping sites located down the canoe trails. This is available if you would like to go canoing for a few hours or a few days. Canoing is very fun and a great way to see everything. They offer package deals at some hotels for this.
In Pardise Michigan there is so much to do. The scenery is behind belief. The residents in this city are very helpful to everyone. This is defiantly a city I will be going back to. There where a lot of things we didn’t have time to do and see.
