Considering doing the barefoot walk down the isle? Instead of bare feet, do you have your eye on those sexy sandals? Here are some tips and suggestions on how to have your feetsies looking their best before the big day comes. We would not want your feet to look awful that day; we want them looking their best so that you feet shine along with the huge smile on your face.
First things first, you want to take care of the soles of your shoes. If they are really thick and dry, try taking a lemon and cutting it in half. Rub half of the lemon, pulp side down against your heels and soles. This makes a great defoliant for your feet. If your feet stay dry normally try slathering them in Vaseline or a very thick body crème and wearing socks to help insulate your feet overnight. This is a great way to moisturize your feet easily and quickly.
Once your feet are moisturized, and can stay that way we will move along to the toes. You should trim the toe nails straight across. You want to use a nail file to gently shape the nail and smooth out the rough edges. Take some cuticle oil and rub into the cuticles of the toes, then use an orange nail stick to push the cuticles back. I would also highly recommend the use of a pumice stone to help ensure your feet are baby soft and looking good. A pumice stone will slough off the dry and dead skin cells leaving the skin looking much improved.
Once you have cleaned up your nails you will want to ensure they stay soft by applying moisturizer at least once a day, twice a day would be better. Use a good quality lotion, preferably a very thick lotion so that it lasts longer than the thinner lotions. Once your feet are soft and staying soft you can start polishing, if you decide not to polish there are also artificial nail kits you can purchase that are designed specifically for toenails. This might be a good option if your nails look very bad and are not repairable in time for your wedding.
If you paint your nails, never paint them before bed, this will cause them to look dull and smudge badly. You should never apply more than one coat if you must go to bed quickly after polishing, and you should never go to bed any sooner than 45 minutes after applying the polish. One of the best polish tips I can give you is to apply a base coat and first layer on the day you initially paint your nails, and wait two days before applying another coat. You can simply shine up your polish job by adding a top coat when necessary.
As you can see, having great feet for the barefoot wedding is not a massive struggle. This is a task that can be accomplished by anyone with some work. Putting your best foot forward is always a great way to start a wonderful marriage, and with some effort your feet will be the best they have ever been.
